Iggy Pop is my dad's age plus a hundred years. He has a beer belly full of scars and a dirty blonde horse mane that he probably never washes, but pukes on. He usually sings shirtless, except he doesn't sing. He screams every lyric as if he wants to punch you square in the face, he doesn't know you. He doesn't know you at all. One day, he screamed, not sang, this thing. Part of it went, like,

I need to lead a dissipate existence
and play scratchy records
and enjoy my decline
with more divorce
more distance
more future
more culture

more.

more, more, more, more, more, more
more, more, more, more, more, more
more, more, more, more, more, more
more, more, more, more, more, more
more, more, more, more, more, more
more, more, more, more, more, more

And I thought, to get wasted poetically,
that's why I love that lyric so much, why I hate talking about real people, why I am half-and-half in my mind and in my heart but nowhere in my life.

I should be making use of you, blog, and spill in way too intimate detail and song lyrics the high points and low points of my table-setting life right now. There isn't any more sense pretending like I'm not the attention-grubbing corpse that I am, cringingly. But fuck you and no thanks. Here is a picture of a tomato instead.

He's a sad tomato. But he's more than ok with that.

My headband is crushing my skull, thus my brain is only one-fourths working.

So here you go, a playlist.

1. Chinese Translation + M. Ward
and I said
what do you do with the pieces of a broken heart?
and how can a man like me remain in the light?
and if life is really as short as they say
then why is the night so long?
and then the sun went down
and he sang for me this song

2. Petting Zoo + Graves
all I want to do, is go to the petting zoo with you

3. Gray or Blue + Jaymay
I know the shape of your hands because I watch them when you talk
and I know the shape of your body 'cause I watch it when you walk
and I want to know it all but I'm giving you the lead
so go on, go on and take it, don't fake it
shake it

4. Come By Storm + Laura Gibson
if the dark falls early
would you come in the night?
would you come with the morning?
come by fire or come by storm

5. Wonderwall (Oasis cover)+ Cat Power
there are many things that I would
like to say to you
but I don't know how

6. It's a Wonderful Life + Sparklehorse
I wore
a rooster's blood
when it flew
like doves
I'm a bog
of poisoned frogs

it's a wonderful life

7. Bad Things Coming, We Are Safe + Emmy The Great
I understand,
what you describe,
that there are things we don't decide -
they are decided for us
still I would trust,
that we are safe when we're together

8. Til Kingdom Come + Coldplay
say you'll come, and set me free,
just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me

I felt you in my life
Before I ever thought to
Felt the need to lay down
Beside you
And tell you
I feel you in my heart,
And I don't even know you
And now we're saying
Bye, bye, bye
Now we're saying
Bye, bye, bye
I was nineteen
(call me)

Well even if they aren't any good songs about being 19, I guess it isn't so bad.

On the other hand, 355 days to my exit as a teenager. Fuck.
